The first quarter of 2019 was a feast for South Indian movie buffs with some brilliant films being released. From Super Deluxe in Tamil to two-part NTR biopic, fans had a gala time at the movies. While the reviews from critics were in abundance, the response from audiences was overwhelming. Many female actresses stole the show in South with stellar performances leaving audience awestruck. From Vidya Balan, who made her debut in Telugu with NTR biopic, to Nithya Menen, these ladies left fans mighty impressed with their acting prowess. We ran a poll for Best South Actress for the first quarter of 2019 and you guys have made your choice. Kannada actress Hariprriya walked away with the Best South Actress award with 59% of votes. Samantha Akkineni - Super Deluxe (22%)
Playing an unfaithful wife, Samantha proved yet again why she is the best in the business. Her honest and surreal portrayal in Super Deluxe won millions of hearts taking her stardom a new level altogether. Super Deluxe stands as one of the best films made in South this year.
Vidya Balan - NTR Biopic (13%)
This Bollywood star made her debut in Tollywood with NTR biopic and played Basavatarakam, NTR's wife. Vidya Balan's impressive performance received a huge thumbs up from Telugu audience which made way for her to be nominated for the Best South Actress award.
Nithya Menen - Praana (5%)
This offbeat subject was directed by VK Prakash and was based on a series of incidents experienced by a writer, played by Nithya. The concept of the story was never attempted before and Nithya amplified the film with her surreal performance. Praana was released in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu.
Hariprriya - Bell Bottom (60%)
Bell Bottom is a period drama and is touted to be a thriller. Rishab Shetty plays an aspiring detective and in the process meets Kusuma, played by Hariprriya, a bootlegger who sells hooch in the local gamut. Her realistic portrayal left the audience impressed and made them crown her as one of the best in the business. And this mind blowing performance by the actress has paved way for her to bag the Best South Actress award.
