Manikarnika box office collection day 2: Kangana Ranaut's film sees a massive jump on Republic Day, earns Rs 26.85 crore

Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnik The Queen Of Jhansi is getting a lot of love at the box office. After an impressive first day number, the film's collections only swelled yesterday thanks to the Republic Day holiday. It saw a huge jump on day 2 to earn Rs 18.10 crore in one single day. That has brought the total to a massive Rs 26.85 crore. That's incredible as this is the first time a women-centric film has earned so much in a single day. Check out the latest box office update here...

Manikarnika is expected to clock equally high numbers on a Sunday today as the word of mouth has been extremely positive. Kangana has always managed to get people to the theatres with her films without the need of a superstar in the lead. She has banked on her talent and the merit of the script to earn that for her. Manikarnika has been in the news for the change of director that the film went through. Krish who directed the film first was replaced by Kangana later but there is a reason behind that. In our exclusive chat with her, the actress explained why she had to step in as the director. "Krish (the director) is actually a writer-director. He s never really directed a film of another writer. So, when he was doing the script, even when he held the script in his hands for the first time, he was very sure he was not going to make (the movie) as it is. It (Manikarnika) needs to evolve, she explained.
