Akshay Kumar - Rajinikanth's 2.0 is the shortest film in director Shankar Shanmugham's career

Despite being the most expensive Indian film of all time with the whopping budget of Rs 600 crore, Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth's 2.0 is the shortest film in director Shankar Shanmugham's career. The sci-fi venture recently got the clearance for CBFC (Censor Board of Film Certification) with UA certificate and running time of 148 minutes (2 hours 28 minutes). If we compare the duration of 2.0 to Shankar's previous films like (Enthiran - 2 hours 58 minutes), (I - 3 hours 8 minutes), (Nanban - 3 hours 8 minutes), the magnum opus has the shortest time. What we think, of the current scenario is that the director has tried to keep the film crisp and sharp on the edit table by removing the unnecessary scenes to give a visual yet gripping experience to the audience.

The film was earlier supposed to release in Diwali next year but postponed due to incompletion of VFX work. Director Shankar recently said in an interview with Zee Tamil, Except for main characters, 2.0 is a completely different film from Enthiran. Major Hollywood studios adjusted their prior commitments to work on this project as they were so impressed with the subject of the film. It will be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions and Karan Johar will present the Hindi version under his banner Dharma Productions. Apparently, it is the first Indian film, which is entirely shot in 3D. Produced under the banner of Lyca Productions, the film also stars Amy Jackson, Adil Hussain and Sudhanshu Pandey in pivotal roles. So, do you think 2.0 has the potential to break Baahubali 2 record at the box office? Tweet to us...
