Rakul Preet Singh on relationships: In real life, I am waiting to fall in love

Ajay Devgn is all set to entertain the audience with an urban rom-com, De De Pyaar De this May and we can hardly stop the hoots! The trailer, which left the audience laughing out loud, the songs, was received well for all the punches but it wasn't the only part. The film also features Tabu and Rakul Preet and God knows, it's a dynamic that hasn't been jaded with cliches. While Ajay and Tabu's off-screen equation from having worked together translates easily to the screen, it was actually the refreshing chemistry between Rakul Preet and the leading man that garnered a lot of buzz. Be it the scenes or the songs that the makers have dropped, the audience is reacting well to the pairing and we can't wait to see for more of it. Recently, in an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Rakul opened up about Ajay and how he made her comfortable. She also spoke about Tabu 'mam' and her craft as an actor. The actress said, "Ajay is sweet, grounded, warm and secure. He s my senior but never once did he make me feel like a newcomer. Once I fumbled over a two-page dialogue but when I apologised, he told me, 'Even I wouldn t have remembered so much.' Tabu ma am was also very encouraging. Whenever you work with someone who s good at his/her job, it pushes you to do better because acting is all about action and reaction."

Rakul also spoke about the film and said it is the quirk that sets it apart. "De De Pyaar De belongs to a quirky space, but end of the day, it s also a very progressive film. Each character is well-etched and the premise is all the more relevant in today s time when relationships are not defined by numbers. It s about finding the right companion without age being a consideration. The subject has been treated light-heartedly, but there s a strong emotional undercurrent. And despite the fact that the man is caught between his ex-wife and a much-younger woman he is dating, it s a wholesome comedy that I can watch with my parents," she added. When quizzed if she has ever fallen in love with an older guy, the stunner quipped, "In real life, I m waiting to fall in love. Older guy or younger, it doesn t matter. (Smiles)"

De De Pyaar De marks the directorial debut of well-known editor Akiv Ali and is bankrolled by Luv Ranjan (director of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Pyaar Ka Punchnama series) under his banner Luv Films along with T-Series. The film will talk about the modern-day relationships in a quirky way and is extensively shot in Himachal Pradesh and London. The film also stars Tabu, Jimmy Sheirgill, Jaaved Jaaferi and Alok Nath in key roles. It is set to hit the screens on May 17.

Meanwhile, Ajay is shooting for his upcoming production venture Tanhaji: The Unsung Hero, which marks the directorial debut of Om Raut. Made on the lavish budget of Rs 150 crore, it is one of the ambitious projects of Ajay Devgn. It also stars Kajol along with Saif Ali Khan, who will play the lead antagonist in the venture. It is scheduled to hit the screens on January 10, 2020, and will lock horns with Deepika Padukone starrer Chhapaak, which is directed by Raazi helmer Meghna Gulzar.
