Post the huge success of Gully Boy, we have seen Ranveer Singh putting all the efforts on the field to get into the character of legendary cricketer Kapil Dev for '83. As the film is finally set to go on floors from May 15, the actor along with his co-stars Saqib Saleem, Chirag Patil, Harrdy Sandhu, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Adinath Kothare, Jatin Sarna and others has headed to Dharamshala for the cricket boot camp training session.
Talking about the session, director Kabir Khan told Mumbai Mirror, It s a cricket boot camp at the beautiful Kangra stadium up in the mountains. We will live together and train like a cricket team for the next 10 days. Many of the players from the original squad will also be here to train the actors. As we said told you earlier, that the makers will kickstart the shooting from May 15 and will have a 100-day schedule in London and Scotland.
Talking about Ranveer's preparation for the character, a source close to the film told the tabloid, Besides Kapil paaji s distinctive mannerisms, Ranveer also wants to perfect his trademark outswinger before shoot kicks off. His training is a combination of cricketing skills and training with physical conditioning.
While Balvinder Singh Sandhu is training the onscreen team, fitness coach Rajiv Mehra has also joined the team as the trainer. Apart from the ensemble cast, the film also stars Pankaj Tripathi, who will play team manager PR Man Singh. Presented by Reliance Entertainment, "83", directed by Kabir Khan, will see Ranveer playing Kapil Dev. The film is inspired by Team India's first World Cup win. Produced by Madhu Mantena, Vishnu Induri and Kabir Khan, the movie will be releasing on April 10, 2020.
