Exclusive! Notebook actor Zaheer Iqbal explains why you won't be disappointed by the new version of Hrithik Roshan's Bumbro

Recreating a classic song is the latest trend in B-town with almost every upcoming Hindi film promoting a remixed version of an original number. While some turn out to be exceptionally foot-tapping, there are a few which are disappointments too. Hence, when we heard of the classic song Bumbro Bumbro from Hrithik Roshan's Mission Kashmir being remade for Zaheer Iqbal and Pranutan Bahl's Notebook, we had ample of thoughts in our minds. 'Will the makers live up to the original or ruin it completely?' was the first thought which popped up.

Needless to say, when we had a word with Zaheer recently, we did ask him about the comprehensions he faced while filming the song, considering the fact that it may be criticised or get compared to Hrithik's version. To which, the young lad said, "Hrithik sir did a phenomenal job in Mission Kashmir. But if you see the original video of Bumbro Bumbro, it is not about dancing and having fun. The point of comparison won't come to the forefront once people watch Notebook as it is into a different space altogether."

To which, the aspiring actor said, "Hrithik sir did a phenomenal job in Mission Kashmir. But if you see the original video of Bumbro Bumbro, it is about dancing and having fun. The point of comparison won't arise once people watch Notebook as it is set in a different space altogether." Further, explaining how different their version of Bumbro is from the original, Zaheer added, "Bumbro is a Kashmiri folk song and we have just picked up the lines, 'Bumbro bumbro shyam rang bumbro'. There are a lot of Kashmiri lyrics in our version and the song is completely different. It is more of a motivational number, where I motivate the kids."

Recollecting the first shot of Bumbro, Zaheer said, "Since it was my first film I was excited. I was high on energy and performed out of the character. And when I saw the shot on the monitor, it wasn't even in sync." When asked as to what went wrong in the shot, the actor asserted, "The kids were having fun while I was performing. So, Nitin (director) sir told me to be in the character and just have fun with them. Now, when I see the song, I see myself smiling throughout, as I was enjoying my moment with the little ones."

Producer under the banner of Salman Khan Films, Notebook releases on March 29, 2019.
