It's raining cop-dramas in Bollywood. Only yesterday we told you that megastar Salman Khan and mega star-maker Rohit Shetty might collaborate soon for an action-packed cop-drama. It was also in talks that the Bharat actor will start prepping up for the film by the end of this year. Now, while it remains to be seen if Salman will revive the role and traits of the iconic character Chulbul Pandey, another actor is all set to enter the territory for the first time and it is none other than Ayushmann Khurrana who has had an amazing run last year thanks to Andhadhun and Badhaai Ho.
According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Ayushmann has signed Mulk's director Anubhav Sinha's next. Buzz is that it will be a cop-drama but with a relevant and topical theme. The report also states that the film is set in Uttar Pradesh and rolls in mid-2019 once the actor completes his other work commitments. The publication also quoted a source saying, "A chunk of the film will be shot in Kanpur. Like other Ayushmann-starrers this one too is high on content and on a socially-relevant topic. It is based on a true incident and Ayushmann will play a cop for the first time." Reportedly, it has been titled Kanpur Dehaat, and the makers are looking at a release during the last leg of the year.
Earlier, while talking about the project, he had neither confirmed nor denied and had told Mirror, "Yes, I am in talks with Anubhav for a film but we have still not finalised on a lot of stuff." Well, doesn't that excite you? We certainly are!
Apart from this, Ayushmann will next be seen in Ekta Kapoor's production venture Dream Girl alongside Nushrat Bharucha in a lead role. It is a comedy entertainer and is being helmed by Raaj Shaandilyaa who is known for writing films like Bhoomi and Freaky Ali.
