The menacing Tamilrockers strike again! Week after week, we have seen latest releases falling prey to piracy due to the notorious Tamilrockers. After Gully Boy, Petta, Viswasam, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi and Thackeray, this week the axe falls on Captain Marvel. Yes, Marvel's Women's Day release has been leaked online by the giant piracy website. Since the past one year, online piracy has affected the entertainment industry to a considerable extent, especially South films. As a consequence 12000 piracy sites were blocked. Despite this, the online menace continues affecting the business of filmmakers.
Our trade expert, Ganesh Aaglave predicts that Captain Marvel will open above Rs 6 crore on its first day in the domestic market. If the film achieves this numbers, it will beat the opening day collections of Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman (Rs 2.10 crore), Guardians of the Galaxy (Rs 3.50 crore), Ant-man and the Wasp (Rs 5.50 crore), Black Panther (Rs 5.60 crore) and Dr Strange (Rs 2.63 crore). If we see phenomenal growth in the evening and nights shows tomorrow, it might cross the business of Aquaman (Rs 7.75 crore) and Spider-Man Homecoming (Rs 9.50 crore).
The film is receiving positive response all over. In our review of the Marvel superhero film, Dishya Sharma writes, "Brie Larson was born to be Captain Marvel. The Academy Award winner brings out the emotional yet human superhero to life like she's been doing this for years. She's not only a great superhero, she's also good at comedy. Her comic timing leaves you impressed. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck have put together a good superhero movie with Captain Marvel, especially since it is the first female superhero movie. Brie Larson and Samuel L Jackson carry the movie on their shoulders."
