The Wikipedia article of the day for November 30, 2018 is Battle of Tassafaronga.
The Battle of Tassafaronga was fought on the night of November 30, 1942, between US Navy and Imperial Japanese Navy warships near Tassafaronga Point on the Pacific island of Guadalcanal. Five cruisers and four destroyers under the command of Rear Admiral Carleton H. Wright (pictured) stalked eight Japanese destroyers under Rear Admiral Raizō Tanaka that were en route to deliver food to their forces on the island. Using radar, the US warships gained surprise, opened fire, and sank one of the destroyers. Tanaka's ships reacted quickly, launching Type 93 "Long Lance" torpedoes that sank one US cruiser and heavily damaged three others. The rest of Tanaka's force escaped without significant additional damage, abandoning the intended supply mission. The battle had little strategic impact, and the Japanese were unable to recapture Guadalcanal from Allied forces.

NY 308 passes near the Dutchess County Fairgrounds, several historical landmarks, and the Landsman Kill River, a minor tributary of the Hudson River. Fire breaks out on the sets of Zero

Shah Rukh Khan is excitedly promoting his next with Zero with his leading ladies Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. The trailer of the film has been very well received and the film is almost nearing completion with only one song left to shoot. Amidst the madness, the film may have suffered a set back when a major fire broke on the sets of the film only a few hours ago.

The fire started because of a short circuit on set and went onto engulf a major part of the set-up. Shah Rukh Khan was present for the shoot of a song but fortunately was in his vanity when the fire broke out. No casualties have been reported except for major loss of time and money spent on the sets.

Along with Shah Rukh, Alia Bhatt was also spotted at the location. It is unclear if she was there to meet the superstar, shoot for a cameo in the film or simply for some other work. Whatever be the case, we are just happy that no one got injured including the stars or the crew on set.

The couple who has decided to make it a no cell phone wedding has now also issued a confidentiality clause for all the guests present for their destination wedding. The wedding that is going to take place at the iconic Umaid Bhawan Place with close friends and families of the duo is truly one of the most anticipated weddings of the year.

Just yesterday the couple kicked-off the pre-wedding festivities with a Puja at PC’s Juhu residence post which Nickyanka will now begin the celebrations. Just this morning, bride and groom, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas left for Jodhpur along with their families. Ready to kick-in celebrations in full swing, Nick and Priyanka will be hosting their sangeet tomorrow night on November 30thfollowed by their weddings on December 1st and 2nd. The couple will be getting married as per both Christian and Hindu traditions and later host a wedding reception on December 4 in Delhi.

Post newlyweds Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, it’s now Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas who have decided to make theirs a no cell phone wedding. The power couple has already reached Jodhpur where they have been joined by close friends and their families. The security has been beefed up for the #Nickyanka wedding which is going to take place at the Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur, Rajasthan. No guests present at the wedding will be allowed to click pictures at the wedding and we are guessing, the couple will later share pictures on their official social media ceremonies.

According to a latest report in a leading tabloid, the staff members at the Umaid Bhawan Palace have been sent on leave, and been replaced by employees of the event management and security firms hired by the duo. Only the main head of the management we hear will continue to work over the next five days but won’t be allowed to use cell phones. For the basic coordination, the staff will be handed over basic phones.

Priyanka and Nick will be getting married as per the Hindu and Christian ceremony on December 2nd and 1st.  Tomorrow, i.e. November 30th will be their Sangeet ceremony which is expected to be one big night.

Sanya Malhotra on working with Nawazuddin Siddiqui: I watched all his interviews to know how he prepares for his roles

Actress Sanya Malhotra says working with Nawazuddin Siddiqui in her forthcoming release "Photograph" has been a huge thing for her as it gave her the opportunity to work with her favorite actor.

"I started shooting for 'Photograph' right after 'Dangal' so, it's really special for me," said Sanya interacting with the media at fashion designer Ritu Kumar's store launch on Thursday here.

"It was my second film, though 'Patakha' (by Vishal Bhardwaj) got released after 'Dangal'. I had a really good experience working with Ritesh Batra and Nawaz sir. It was a huge thing for me to work with Nawaz sir because he is my favorite actor," she added.

"Initially, I was a bit nervous working with him. But then I watched all his interviews to know how he prepares for his roles so that I could chill out working alongside.

"When he used to come on the set, he would leave his starry vibes back at home. He was this completely transformed -- like totally into his character. I got to learn a lot from him," said the actress, who was last seen in "Badhaai Ho".

"Photograph" revolves around a struggling street photographer (Nawazuddin), pressured to marry by his grandmother. He convinces a shy stranger to pose as his fiancee. The pair develops a connection that transforms them.

The film will be premiering at Sundance Film Festival 2019. "It is very exciting news," she said. Sanya along with Fatima Sana Shaikh made their Hindi film debut in "Dangal" alongside Aamir Khan. Fatima's second was "Thugs of Hindostan".

While "Thugs..." failed to impress, Sanya's "Badhaai Ho" has crossed Rs 100 crore at the box-office and has entered its 6th week at the theatres. She said she was happy with the outcome but stayed clear of the comparison.

"The kind love and appreciation we have been receiving for the film is really amazing. It's the 6th week and still drawing audiences to the theatres," she said.

‘I hate unkindness in people and bullies,’ says Emily Blunt as she recalls being teased for stuttering

Actress Emily Blunt, who stammered right from her childhood, discovered acting as a therapy to overcome the stutter.

The "Mary Poppins Returns" star had a speech impediment when she was growing up and she used to focus on "watching and listening" to people because she "couldn't speak fluently", reported femalefirst.co.uk.

She said: "Because I couldn't speak fluently, I watched and listened. I would be on the Tube, and I would wonder about people and invent backstories for everyone. There's always been a natural desire to walk in the shoes of others.

"It started quite young because it was the only tool I had to speak properly. I was that kid, upstairs in my room, trying out stuff in the mirror. But I would never tell anyone about it. It was always very private."

In an interview to Harper's Bazaar magazine, Blunt talked about how overcoming a childhood stutter has helped to shape her as an adult as the bullying she suffered taught her some important life lessons.

"I think whatever you have to overcome in life ultimately paves the way (for whom you become as an adult). I got teased a lot, and to this day, I hate unkindness in people and bullies."

This casting is especially something that we are looking forward to as, after portraying the role of real-life Sanjay Dutt in his last film, Ranbir will be actually working with the actor for the first time in this venture. The makers are expecting to wrap up the film by 2019 and it is set to hit the screens on July 31, 2020.

Expected to be a desi, high-octane masala film, Shamshera is an edge of the seat adventure and is set in the heartland of India. 2.0 box office collection day 1: Akshay Kumar - Rajinikanth's sci-fi venture gets a stupendous opening, earns over Rs 20 crore, as per early estimates

While we were expecting Tamil and Telugu versions of 2.0 to break all box office records, the collections of Hindi version has also surprised us bug time. Despite releasing on a normal working day, the magnum opus opened with great occupancy in the morning shows and with the help of positive word of mouth, the footfalls in the evening and night shows picked up rapidly. As per the early estimates, 2.0 has raked in over Rs 20 crore in its Hindi version on its opening day. The numbers are extraordinary and we surely expect a substantial growth over the weekend for the film at the ticket windows.

The film has already become the biggest opener at the Chennai box office beating Thalapathy Vijay's Sarkar. Actress-singer Lady Gaga was constantly "harassed" when she began her music career and said it was the "rule, not the exception" in the recording studio.

2.0: Lyca productions hits back at COAI’s objections on the films' theme

Rajnikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 portrays the ill-effects of unregulated growth of mobile services and objections of the telecom industry are bogus, the film s production house Lyca Productions has said. Telecom industry body COAI had earlier this week requested the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) to revoke the certification of the film, saying its trailers show mobile phones and towers in a bad light.

In a strongly worded letter to the CBFC, Lyca said the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has no rudimentary knowledge of law and film production and they appear to be a puppet in the hands of a rival film producer . The theme of the film is not against development or mobile services, but against the unregulated growth of mobile services. While the objections of the COAI is bogus and empty and revolves around no effect of electronics waves on human beings and commercial view of its members, we as film producer have chosen a subject that has fantasy and fiction as well, Lyca said in the letter dated November 26.

The film, with a reported budget of around Rs 600 crore, released Thursday. Meanwhile, COAI Director General Rajan S Mathews said the filmmakers have clarified that the movie is fictional and not based on scientific evidence.

We have raised concern before appropriate authorities. We hope people will understand that it is fiction and not ask for removing cell phone towers. In case there is unwanted activity against networks then it will be for the government to handle it, Mathews said. In its letter, Lyca said the producers of the film need not accept COAI s views that there are no ill-effects of mobile towers.

We are under no obligation to toe the line with the said Association the film does not hunt or defames anyone, Lyca said, adding that it does not make documentaries or had been appointed as an agent of any telecom association. The COAI has claimed that radiations on a human being are a subject matter of various researches. The very fact that a cell phone tower is ordered to be distanced from habitation prima facie shows that it has an impact on living beings, Lyca said. It said that the censor board, which cleared the film, did not find anything serious or objectionable.

The complainant viz COAI cannot force the hand of the government and other statutory bodies to stall its release. We request you to not to entertain any vexatious letters at the instance of this interloper, it said. The COAI, whose members include Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea, has alleged that the promotional videos are based on the theme that electromagnetic field emissions from mobile phones and towers are harmful to the living creatures and the environment.

And hence, believe us when we say this, we are super excited about their big, fat, Indian wedding and a Christian wedding that is all set to take place over the next two days in Jodhpur.

But being the believers that we are, we also wanted a little help to know as to how will their marriage be. While one glance at their social media profiles is enough to tell us that they are indeed a match made in heaven, we still wanted the tarot cards to tell us as to what exactly is in store for the duo as a married couple. We began by asking her as to how will their married life be and she says, "It will be a happy marriage. She will be the one who will be calling the shots in the relationship early on, which means she will help him, guide him and take care of him in every possible way."

Ask her as to how will the two manage their careers and she points out, "She will have to be in Los Angeles more. In the first two-and-a-half years, she will have to manage her work life along with her domestic life. In the next couple of years, his career is going to skyrocket and he will be in a different space. Priyanka's career, too, will flourish in the West majorly. She might shuffle to and fro between India for some years but she will be there mostly. In fact, it seems like she has quite a few projects but she is still considering. She might get something big around May-June."

Wow, that does sound dreamy but as they say life can't be a bed of roses. "They will have to be careful about the difference in opinion. Both of them have very strong personalities and they both have to allow their individualities to remain intact in the relationship. They should be okay with each other's way of thinking. They have to give each other space," advices Monisha.

"She will have to be comfortable with the fact that he has a huge female fan-following and popularity. She will have to agree to his beliefs too. She is marrying a man with a strong mind. He has some major plans and in the next five years, he is set to become a major star. And he needs a supportive wife by his side to fan his ambition," she elaborates further.

As a word of caution for Nick, she says, "He is very enamoured by this gracious Indian beauty who gets called to Windsor for the wedding. He is quite her baby right now but after marriage, things will change. His popularity is all set to shoot through the roof! And that is when the balancing act will begin."

Considering that PeeCee has been talking about having kids since a while now, we ask her as to how soon will she have a baby and Monisha says, "She will have a baby in the next couple of years."

Summing it up, she draws cards that read, "They will have to be careful for the first five years because there will be two stars in the relationship and they have to maintain their relationship despite their starry ambitions."

Jacqueline was papped outside Soho House yesterday in basic separates that we’re currently crushing on because of the details. She wore a black cropped top with a high-neck collar that she teamed with the light blue bell-bottom pants. The top looked like a simple cropped top from the front, but the interesting details were on the sides. The front and back of the top were interestingly attached together with large eyelets forming a side cut-out pattern. How sexy and cool is that?

Priyanka Chopra Is Still Upset With Nick Jonas For Not Kissing Her On The First Date

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas are just two days away from tying the knot. The couple looks so much in love that we actually want to know more details about their love story, how it all started and how was their first date. It looks like PeeCee and Nick actually heard us and opened up on their relationship and the initial phase. In an interview with Vogue, our desi girl revealed that they started exchanging texts much before they made an appearance at Met Gala in 2017.

So Priyanka and Nick had met for a proper drink at a hotel in New York. That same evening, Piggy Chops invited Nick to her apartment even though her mother, Dr Madhu Chopra was home. Priyanka said, “We hung out for a couple of hours… he patted my back before he left.” Nick added, “There was no kiss. There was nothing.”

“There was a back pat,” PeeCee said. “She’s still upset about that,” Nick said. He further added, “Your mom was in the house! I thought it was a respectful first night.” The actress had a sarcastic reply to this. “It was too respectful if you ask me,” she said.

7 Beauty Products I’m Stocking Up On For December

December is by far my most favourite month of the year. The general festive spirit and nip in the air make the days more cheerful and pleasant. Although Bombay doesn’t have a full-fledged winter season (I have my fingers crossed anyway!), I am travelling quite a bit over the next few weeks. Here are the beauty products I’m stocking up on to deal with the cold weather.

1. Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

During this season, I tend to avoid foaming face washes as they leave my skin feeling tight and dry. Instead, I cleanse my face with this luxurious balm. Not only does it take off all the makeup and grime off my face, but also leaves my complexion feeling super soft and smooth. Plus, the entire act of using a cleansing balm relaxes me at the end of a long day.

2. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream

This cream is my ride or die. A dime-sized amount deeply nourishes my face and acts as a barrier against any environmental factors. Unlike several heavy creams, this one sinks into my skin and plays well under makeup.

3. Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil

On days when the cold is too much to handle, I plan on adding a few drops of this oil into my facial cream. Argan oil is one of my favourites to use as it absorbs well and doesn’t cause me to break out. Whenever I use it, I pat the excess onto the ends of my hair and on my cuticles to give them extra nourishment.

4. The Solution Moisturizing Face Mask

I’m a face mask addict! Since I am going to be travelling a lot, I prefer carrying around sheet masks as they weigh practically nothing and are very convenient to use. This particular one comes drenched in a ceramide serum and works quickly to provide a burst of moisture to my skin.

5. Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Mask

Speaking of masks, I also love using them on my hair. Whilst the cold air does wonders at keeping my frizz at bay, it also tends to dry out my locks. To keep them protected, I slather on a generous amount of this creamy mask. Since it’s enriched with argan oil, it leaves my hair feeling soft, smooth and glossy.

6. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

To be honest, I haven’t tried this lip mask out before. However, after hearing a ton of good reviews about it, I’m definitely going to be picking up a jar or two. The formula promises to gently slough off dead skin and replenish any lost moisture. Since my pout is constantly chapped, this sounds incredible to me.

7. Nivea Nourishing Body Milk

I’m very finicky when it comes to body lotions. Apart from keeping my limbs moisturised, a lotion should also dry down to a non-greasy finish. After much trial and error, I’ve finally found one that ticks all the boxes. This almond oil-based lotion keeps dry, flaky skin at bay and doesn’t feel sticky or heavy at all.
